Intermediate players looking for an explosive racket with big spin and plenty of pop should like this update to the Pure Aero Team. At 301 grams strung and boasting a swingweight below 310 (RDC), this racket accelerates quicker than the standard Pure Aero. As a result, improving players will find it easier to generate the stroke speed required to generate effective pace and spin. Like the previous generation, this racket has FSI Spin Technology, which features wider spacing between the crosses for a tighter grip on the ball. Additionally Babolat has widened the grommet holes at 12 and 6 o’clock, giving the strings a greater range of movement so as to increase snapback and spin. Babolat has also moved the Cortex Pure Feel dampening material to the head at 3 & 9 o’clock, resulting in a slightly softer feel at impact. From the baseline, the Pure Aero Team feels fast, firm and accurate. Although it lacks the stability of the standard Pure Aero, this racket’s whippy acceleration and spin-friendly response will give you the ability to hit high arching balls that drop hard and explode off the court. At net, this racket moves into position with remarkable ease, making it great for reaction volleys or springing into action when opportunity knocks. There’s also plenty of power for finishing points. On service returns, the Pure Aero Team comes around fast, making it easy to position the racket against a hard first serve or attack a second serve. Ultimately, with this update to the Pure Aero Team, Babolat has succeeded in creating a point and shoot weapon for intermediate players looking to ratchet-up the pace and spin. The fact that it feels a tad more comfortable than previous generations is a nice bonus.
